Indigenous Youth And Globalization !!!

The Dictionary of sociology defines that the term Globalization is a process in which social life within societies is increasingly affected by international influences based on everything form political and trade ties to shared music, clothing style and mass media, actually, the Globalization does have Three elements “International Trade”, “International Investment” and “International Finance”, Whatever the term it may be, it generally means the monopoly of organization of Technology, Money (Capital), and Knowledge, information, goods, Labor and people in the borderless world.

Obviously, that indigenous people do have very egalitarian social structure, because each indigenous group have developed own system of rituals form birth to death, each group has its own family system, distinctive language etc. but as the indo Aryan Hindus, who fled away form Northern India to the hills of Nepal in the thirteen century, due to muslim attack, that made them take refuge in the hills of Nepal, and the same indo Aryan-Hindus had considered to develop their skill as rulers, since then, the Indigenous Culture began to erode due to the powerful influence of Hindu social, Cultural, Political, Economic and linguistic systems.

Globalization is a phenomenon that can not be avoided; it is never an exceptional phenomenon changing young lives in almost every part of the globe. Globalization and Global youth Culture tends to infiltrate within each and every individual, whether one likes or not, factors enabling Global youth Culture.

Today, we use Telephones, mobiles, E-mails, Internet and other Global methods for Communication; we exchange as much information in a day as our grandparents must have done in their life time. We send New Year wish to all in a list without actually knowing who is in the list.

Indigenous youth inherit the responsibility to protect and preserve their traditional lands, resources and sacred sites upon which their Cultural heritage and identity is based.

Young people of today are connected to each other in a way that was never before. Today’s youth are not solely dependent on their parents or traditional means for their knowledge and opinions. They are becoming more independent. They are defining themselves through hip-hop Culture, new breeds of alternative music and a host of other methods.

as matter of fact that various and readily available means of communications, accessibility to information and the open and global trade system has only made it easy for the youth everywhere to connect, share and be a pat of a virtual team.

The word Globalization has commodified and disrespected the Cultures. Because of travel and migration or easily accessible of information and enormous of such a visible and invisible means, there has been adaptation of newer and newer Culture, which not only has eroded the indigenous Cultures, Language, which really has threatened the Indigenous Culture, Identity of being Unique and challenged the indigenous Culture advocates.

if this challenges are to be met, the concern people or Society, must recognize the Voices of young people, understand their challenges and need and mobilize or engage in proper manner, because they are considered to be the Raw Clay on the potter’s hand, which could be shaped in own choice of shape. If one is sincere to understand their language and their symbols, what is taking place with young people, then only can bridge between new and old generation, and can move them right way of preserving own cultures, traditions, Languages, otherwise, the ignorance widens the gap between the old school and the new school, further exacerbating the problems.

The western Culture demonstrates that youths above 18 rarely stay on with their parents. They move out of family and try to be self -dependent; the trend has been increasing as fashion in Nepal too, yes, Nepal hasn’t adopted the “18: Leave Home” System but the different trend can obviously be seen here too, due to Urban centric opportunities, Rural youth come to Urban cities for university education, their they find job opportunities and slowly they become self dependent, and now they are away form home and also from the society, and some have already embrace workplace cultures slowly disregarded their traditions and Cultures, lifestyle too, Yes, Youth leaving their homes and being self-dependent is good, because it generates the healthy and competent youth for development, but leaving them will result in broken relationships and traditional practices and belief.

We are living in a globalized world, it is mandatory to work in the information dissemination sector pertinent to Indigenous Youth and it is also, true that if a youth has enough information about development and opportunities, they can be more involved in development activities for youth and for the society and as a whole for the country.

“As youth is the strongest power of the Nation”, no doubt the Indigenous Youth also are, so, appropriate information models need to be developed for packaging and disseminating relevant information for youth. However the problem is that in the comparison between the Non-Indigenous peers, Indigenous are left far behind in every sector, whether that is the Social, economic or political, so, the globalization has cause Inequality, poverty, displacement, marginalization and oppression, the right to self-determination has caused the adverse effect of globalization, the Indigenous people rights amidst globalization.

Recognition of Indigenous Youth

The unique energy & creativity of Youth is often denied to community. They are viewed only in terms of their lack of maturity and practical life experience. The legitimate dreams & desires of youth are frequently ignored by the elders, who, themselves claim to be the superior one and more responsible members of the community and obviously they are, and respected, appriciated accordingly . But in return youth are always been ignored. That’s the reason, some youth are fraustrated and even have attempted to commit suicide, if not, have diverted in doing criminal activities, and having drugs and slowly killing themselves.
elder members have never ever given the proper opportunities, however youth can always make a signigicant contribution to the communities in which they live, and they can be integrated into the life of the community, through the series of productive and mutually beneficial relationships. That the elders have never thought.
Youth are the positive assets, that they can make unique contribution to the development of Community. because, they do have certain amount of free time which the elder members don’t have. if this un-utilized time can be used in constructive community project, which will lead the society toward the betterment.
Youth have Unique Ideas & creativity, if those are infusion, and used in perticular project can obviously bring different . yes, they haven’t experienced failures and disappointments as adult posses, but if they are guided with good manner and involve along with may posses it and can make something extra in the age of being adult, till the date, their enthusiasm and energy all have gone in waste, which nobody has felt yet too.
” Youth are not only the leaders of Tomorrow, they are also the Partners of Today”
Hey!! Youth Think!!!!!
“Opportunity is not given, it is taken”
“Opportunity is not existed, it is created”
Let’s once Unite because it is said, “If we Unite, we stand, devide we fall”
